JSC Mikron opened factory for production 0.18 micron ICsDecember 12, 2007 The construction of the new production line began in July 2006 after signing the agreement of cooperation with STMicroelectronics company about the transfer of "know-how" for microcircuits. Russia became the seventh country in the world besides France, Germany, USA, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore which obtains such modern technology. The volume of JSC SITRONICS investments in the project for production of ICs with the size of 0.18 micron amounted to about 200 mln USD. All in all, for the past three years more than 300 mln USD were invested in the development of microelectronic production in Zelenograd. The opening of the new factory has accomplished the process of building up an integrated industrial chain of production from chips to the final product in the form of various smart-cards. More than 40 suppliers from 10 countries of the world participated in the project.
JSC Mikron is consistently reducing technological backlog of Russian microelectronics from the global leaders of the industry. Further, according to the earlier announced plans, JSC Mikron will move to the production of integrated circuits with topological size of 0.13 mikron, and in 2009 – of 0.09 micron.
Representatives of various ministries and departments of the Russian Federation led by the first Vice-Premier Sergey Ivanov participated in the opening ceremony of the new production line. "The enterprise is coming up to the world level, - Sergey Ivanov noted. – it is not by chance that 70 percents of all Russian export of electronics come from here. I am absolutely convinced that the volume of the state order will increase", Ivanov added.
"Along with overcoming technological backlog, we are solving a task of restoration of scientific and technical school in the field of microelectronics, - the General Director of JSC Mikron Gennady Krasnikov emphasized, - we have begun independent training of technical staff, more than 120 engineers have already took training at the enterprises of our partners, we managed to bring back to our country a number of experts who were working abroad. We have created a foundation for escalating scientific and technical potential, due to which we can independently develop modern technologies in the country".
The President of JSC SITRONICS Sergey Aslanian said: "Microelectronic industry is one of the most dynamically developing businesses of the company, demonstrating 50% of annual growth. The opening of the new enterprise considerably expands our opportunities in the creation of high-end technology production. JSC Mikron’s practice proves that unification of efforts of private and state business results in overcoming "raw material" dependences of Russian economy".
Around modern industry Moscow technological cluster, new "ecosystem", is already forming, including not only industrial base, but also scientific and technical laboratories, specialised high schools and maintenance organizations. |
